Glorious Twelfth - wikipedia
The Glorious Twelfth is usually used to refer to August 12, the start of the shooting season for Red Grouse (Lagopus lagopus scoticus) and to a lesser extent the Ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) in the United Kingdom. This is one of the busiest days in the shooting season, with large amounts of game being shot. It is also a major boost to the rural economy.
Red Grouse - wikipedia
The Red Grouse (Lagopus lagopus scoticus) is a medium sized bird of the grouse family which is found in heather moorland in Great Britain and Ireland. It is usually classified as a subspecies of the Willow Grouse but is sometimes considered to be a separate species Lagopus scoticus. | Travel Quote: The traveller was active; he went strenuously in search of people, of adventure, of experience. The tourist is passive; he expects interesting things to happen to him. He goes "sight-seeing". Daniel J. Boorstin. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
