1st 1er Arrondissement is the geographical centre of Paris. The 1st occupies the Right Bank of the River Seine and extends onto the western section of the Île de la Cité in the midst of the river. This district is home to the Louvre Museum, Jardin des Tuileries, Place Vendôme, Les Halles and Palais Royal. The best way to explore this part of Paris is on foot and visitors will be surprised how compact this part of Paris is. If you are thinking of taking in The Louvre en route, give it plenty of time as it is huge and can easily swallow two days of your trip time. The principal metro station for the district is Chatelet Les Halles. It is a busy hub and some people have compared it with New York City's Grand Central Station. There is a wide range of hotel accommodation to suit different pockets including the 5 star Le Burgundy Hotel, 4 star properties such as Royal Saint Honore Hotel, Mayfair Hotel, and Saint James & Albany Hotel, 3 star properties such as Hotel Duminy Vendome, Citadines Apartment Les Halles, and Louvre Saint Romain Hotel. For the budget traveller there are 1 and 2 star hotels to be found including Hotel Agora, Hotel De La Vallee, and Hotel Du Lion Dor.
