Amman Queen Alia International Airport (IATA: AMM, ICAO: OJAI) built in 1983 it is the largest airport in Jordan and is located 20 miles (32 km) south of Amman. It is the home hub of Royal Jordanian Airlines, the national flag carrier. It is also a main hub for Jazeera Airways, Gulf Air and Jordan Aviation. The airport is named after Queen Alia, the third wife of King Hussein of Jordan who died in a helicopter crash in 1977. The airport is well served by by bus and taxi with a planner rail line that will link Queen Alia International Airport with Central and Downtown Amman. There are not many hotels near the airport and it is advised that visitors look for accommodation nearer Amman City Centre.

Alia Baha ad-Din Touqan (25 December 1948 – 9 February 1977), was a Queen consort of Jordan, the third spouse of King Hussein of Jordan. Alia died in a helicopter crash in Amman, Jordan, and Amman airport was subsequently renamed Queen Alia International Airport.
