Ankara Esenboga International Airport (IATA: ESB, ICAO: LTAC) is located 28 km (17 miles) east of Ankara. The name of the airport is derived from the village of Esenboa (where the g is silent), which literally means "healthy bull". Passengers travelling to Ankara city centre can do so by tax/car or the Hava bus line. Esenboga International Airport was awarded as the best airport in Europe by ACI Europe (Airport Council International) and the award presented to airport officials on 17 June 2009 in Manchester. The panel of judges highlighted work in the area of environmental innovation especially recycling of exhaust gases to power the airport air conditioning plants. Most of the higher quality hotels are in towards the centre of Ankara, but quality accommodation can be found, within 25 to 30 minutes drive from the airport.

Esenboa International Airport (IATA: ESB, ICAO: LTAC) is an airport located 28 km (17 miles) east of Ankara. In 2008, ESB served 5,692,133 passengers, 4,444,311 of which were domestic passengers. It ranked 3rd in terms of total passenger traffic, 2nd in terms of domestic traffic and 7th in terms of international traffic among airports in Turkey.
