Antalya Airport (IATA: AYT, ICAO: LTAI) is 13 km (8.1 miles) north-east of the city centre of Antalya. The airport has been expanded to handle millions of international visitors flocking to Turkey’s Mediterranean coast. The airport has two international terminals and one domestic terminal with capacity for a staggering 35 million passenger journeys/year. There are some impressive facts supporting the performance of the airport as illustrated below. According to the ACI (Airport Council International) statistics, Antalya Airport International Terminal ranked as the second busiest terminal on the Mediterranean coast line after Majorca in 2005. Also, in 2008, AYT was the world's 30th busiest airport in terms of international passengers traffic. Due to the popularity of the Turkish Riviera, of which Antalya is the undoubted capital, Gazipaa Airport between Anamur and Alanya was opened to accommodate demand, particularly from western European visitors.
