Aqaba King Hussein International Airport (IATA: AQJ, ICAO: OJAQ) is situated close to the Aqaba International Industrial Estate in the north of Aqaba and about 20 minutes by road to Aqaba city centre. The largest operator at Aqaba is Royal Jordanian Airlines and direct flights to Aqaba are now available from Amman, Sharm el-Sheikh, Dubai and Alexandria. The airport is blessed with favourable weather conditions and is rarely closed although visibility can be affected by sandstorms blown across the Red Sea from Egypt. Most travellers look for hotel accommodation in Aqaba and near to the waters of the Red Sea.

Travel Quote: The traveller was active; he went strenuously in search of people, of adventure, of experience. The tourist is passive; he expects interesting things to happen to him. He goes "sight-seeing". Daniel J. Boorstin.
