Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (IATA: BKK, ICAO: VTBS), also known as (New) Bangkok International Airport, is the main international airport serving Southeast Asia, and Bangkok, Thailand. It was opened for most domestic and all international commercial flights on 28 September 2006. It is located about 25 km east of downtown Bangkok and replaced Don Mueang airport. Currently, the airport has the world’s 3rd largest stand-alone terminal building and world's tallest control tower at 132.2 metres. The airport is currently the main hub for Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways, Orient Thai Airlines, PBair and Thai AirAsia. Transfers to Bangkok are by bus and train. The airport runs a number of express buses to downtown Bangkok and a shuttle bus will run to the nearest train station. In 2009/2010 a rapid transport rail link will be opened which will take 15 minutes from city to airport. For air travelers with an early departure time or who are on short business trips there are airport hotels near to Singapore airport including: Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel, Plai Garden Boutique Guesthouse, and Grand Inn Come Hotel.
