However, the Belgian service industry, centered on the administrative functions of the European Union, is arguably the biggest contributor to the Belgium success story. Along with economic success Belgium has nurtured a strong creative culture with a string of artists associated with the country including : Jan van Eyck; Pieter Brueghel the Elder; Peter Paul Rubens; Anthony van Dyck; and Lambert Lombard. No doubt many of these artists would have indulged in Belgium’s most famous product – Beer. There are over 400 varieties of beer including – Stella Artois, Duvel (literally: the Devil, beware, 8.5%!), Leffe, Jupiler (plain standard beer), Hoegaarden (white beer).
