The Boise Convention and Visitors Bureau is a non-profit organization, founded in 1982 by the Greater Boise Auditorium District for the purpose of enhancing the City of Boise's economy through the marketing, promotion and selling of the city and region as a site for conventions, corporate meetings, trade shows, pleasure travel, cultural, sports and special events.
Boise is the capital and most populous city of the State of Idaho (2006 estimate: 198,638 people). Boise was given its name after French-Canadian trappers first explored the area after crossing the arid desert plains. Finding green trees at the site, primarily cottonwoods along the river, they named it boisé (meaning "wooded").

Boise Airport (IATA: BOI, ICAO: KBOI), also known as Boise Air Terminal or Gowen Field, is a commercial and general aviation airport located three miles (five km) south of downtown Boise in Ada County, Idaho, USA. The United States Forest Service also uses Boise Airport as a base for aerial firefighting air tankers during the wildfire season.
