Take time to learn some useful phrases in the language of the country you are visiting. Being able to say only please and thankyou can go a long way.

Budapest. Pop. 1,696,128. Currency Florint. Language – Hungarian. Time Zone GMT + 1 hour. Airport – Ferihegy BUD. Best Time to go – good in all seasons. Budapest is the capital and largest city in Hungary. It is located on the river Danube and consists of two cities – Buda (hilly west side of the Danube) and Pest (the flat east side of the Danube). Budapest is regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and attracts over 20 million visitors per year. The city is easy to navigate and the river Danube provides a good marker. The river is spanned by some iconic bridges including: Margaret Bridge; Chain Bridge; Elisabeth Bridge; Liberty Bridge; and Árpád Bridge. Major attractions include: The Royal Palace; National Gallery; Fisherman's Bastion and lookout terrace; Matthias Church; The Historical Museum of Budapest; The Music Museum; The Military Museum; Buda's Gellert Hill; Margaret Island; The Parliament Building; St. Stephen Cathedral; National Museum; Natural History Museum; The State Opera House; Ernst Museum; Museum of Fine Arts; Aquincum; Kiscelli Museum; and the Buda Hill Labyrinth. One activity that visitors should not miss is to take a spa bath. The baths are built around hot springs, and their central part is one or several thermal pools. Famous baths include: Gellért Baths Buda; Széchényi Spa; Danubius Grand Hotel/Thermal Hotel Margitsziget; Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal Spa; The Palatinus Outdoor Baths; and Dagály. A particularly Hungarian experience is to visit a borozó (wine pub), where cheap but tasty Hungarian wine is available on tap.
