Budva. Pop. 15,000. Currency - Euro. Language – Serbian and Montenegrin. Time Zone GMT + 2 hours. Nearest Main airport – Tivat TIV. Best Time to go – Springtime and late Summer are good times to go although the Mediterranean climate makes Budva an all year round destination.Budva is located on a central part of the Montenegrin coast, frequently referred to as the "Budvanska Rivijera". It is the most visited destination in Montenegro and the allure of a vibrant nightlife, beaches, and old town attracts a diverse group of visitors from Russia, Serbia, and Western European countries. Stari Grad (The Old Town) is the main architectural attraction with ramparts originating from the 15th century including a medieval fortification system with city gates, defense walls and towers. The main beach, Mogren Beach, is also near to the Old Town. One criticism of Budva is the perceived lack of planning and unrestricted development. This has also impacted on the level of infrastructure with pressures on water, electricity, and car parking. Much of this development stems from the real estate boom since the early 200s when foreign buyers, mostly Russians, Irish, and Britons purchased property and land in Budva. The interest in Budva has attracted some major events including the Class 1 Powerboat Grand prix in May 2008. Further afield is the iconic hotel town of Sveti Stefan which is accessible by boat bus, or for the hardy a 10km path walk from Budva.
