Cayman Islands. Pop. 45,000. Capital George Town. An overseas territory belonging to the UK located in the western Caribbean. The islands are made up of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. The principal economic activity on the islands is tourism with Grand Cayman and George Town the main destinations for visitors and cruise ships. The main feature on Grand Cayman is the world famous Seven Mile Beach, often referred to as SMB. The clear water offshore has led to the Caymans becoming a scuba diving mecca where divers can explore the Cayman Wall.
