The Clift is a 363 room Hotel located in Geary Street, in the heart of the Union Square shopping & theatre district within walking distance of restaurants, museums, cable car lines, SOMA (South of Market Area), and the financial district. The hotel interiors have been re-designed by Philippe Starck, and the Clift is now an exciting mix of surrealism and tradition. Arguably the most famous feature of the hotel is the Redwood Room which still retains its original giant redwood tree panelling mixed with an array of digital artwork displayed on plasma television screens hung throughout the room. For corporate guests the hotel has some stylish meeting rooms that feature dramatic white velvet curtains and etched Venetian mirrors, in stark contrast to typical staid conference rooms.
