An early visitor was Robert Louis Stevenson, who suffered from tuberculosis. However, Davos is more known a winter sports destination and it hosts the annual Spengler Cup ice hockey tournament and various speed skating events at the Davos Eisstadion. The town often hosts The World Economic Forum (WEF), a Geneva-based foundation whose annual meeting of top business leaders, national political leaders (presidents, prime ministers and others), and selected intellectuals and journalists is usually held in Davos.

Vaillant Arena (Eisstadion Davos) is a stadium in Davos, Switzerland. It is primarily used for ice hockey and is the home arena of HC Davos. It holds 7,080 people, of which 3,280 are seated. Every year the Spengler Cup is played in this stadium.
Spengler Cup is the second oldest international ice hockey club team tournament in the world after the Stanley Cup playoffs. The tournament, entry to which is by invitation, is hosted by the Swiss team HC Davos. The tournament is played each year in Davos, Switzerland, between Christmas and New Year's Day.
