Edinburgh International Airport (IATA: EDI, ICAO: EGPH) is situated 9.3 km; 5.8 miles west of the city centre and is located just off the M8 motorway. Currently it is the busiest airport in Scotland, handling just over nine million passengers in 2009. There are plans for major expansion of the airport, with passenger numbers expected to reach 26 million per annum by 2030. The airport lies on the A8 Glasgow-Edinburgh road, and can be easily reached by the M8 (from Glasgow) and the M9 (from Stirling). There are a number of ground transport options including: bus service to Edinburgh City Centre; and tax/car. The Edinburgh Tram system, which is currently under construction, will offer a further connection to the airport. Edinburgh Park railway station is a railway station in the west of Edinburgh serving the Edinburgh Park business park and the Hermiston Gait shopping centre. The station opened in December 2003 and is the first intermediate station between Haymarket and Linlithgow since 1951.
