The Eiffel Tower Area is situated near the 7th 15th and 16th Arrondissements (Districts). The tower was completed in 1889 and named after it’s designer - Gustave Eiffel. During and after its construction, the tower was a controversial matter, celebrated and loathed in equal measure. However, the tower has become a global icon of France and one of its top visitor attractions and received its 200,000,000th guest of all-time in 2002. The Eiffel Tower area is near to some main attractions and museums including – the Musée Dapper, Palais de Chaillot & Jardins Du Trocadéro, and the Musée Guimet. The 16e arrondissement is also home to the Parc des Princes scene of the France v Scotland football game where the Scots beat France 1-0 in a Euro 2008 qualifier.
