London Gatwick International Airport (IATA: LGW, ICAO: EGKK) is located in West Sussex, (45.7 km, 28.4 miles) south of central London. Gatwick is the second busiest airport in the UK, Heathrow being the busier. Gatwick is owned and operated by BAA and is a hub airport for Aer Lingus, British Airways, EasyJet, Flybe, Monarch Airlines, Thomas Cook Airlines, Thomson Airways, and Virgin Atlantic Airways. The airport has two terminals – North and South and operates one main runway which statistically makes Gatwick the world's busiest single-runway international airport. There are proposals to build a third terminal and a second main runway although a more likely development is to extend the North Terminal. Transfers to Central London from Heathrow are via Train, Bus/Coach, and Taxi/Car. Gatwick railway station is next to South Terminal from where the famous Gatwick Express runs to London Victoria station. The main motorway network is a mile away where care drivers cab access the M23 which connects to the London orbital motorway – the M25. For the more active traveller Route 21 of the National Cycle Network passes under South Terminal. For air travelers with an early departure time or who are on business trips there are airport hotels near to Heathrow including Hilton Gatwick Airport Hotel and the Arora Hotel Gatwick.
