Greenwich is a district of south London, England, located in the London Borough of Greenwich. The district is known for its naval and maritime history and as giving its name to the Greenwich Meridian (0 longitude) and Greenwich Mean Time. Many famous ships and vessels have a Greenwich connection but arguably one of the most famous ships has been the SCOTTISH clipper The Cutty Sark, She was designed by Hercules Linton and built in 1869 at Dumbarton, SCOTLAND, by the firm of Scott & Linton. The Cutty Sark was an ultra fast sailing ship designed for the tea trade, then an intensely competitive race across the globe from China to London, with a substantial bonus to the ship to arrive with the first tea of the year. Many travellers to Greenwich tend to stay in other areas in London but for the culture vultures who would like to base themselves in the locale look no further than the Express By Holiday Inn Greenwich.
