Halkidiki. A large peninsula in the northwestern Aegean Sea, which resembles a hand with three "fingers", Kassandra, Sithonia, and Ayion Oros. The famous monasteries of Mount Athos are located on the easternmost "finger". Halkidiki is a popular tourist resort accessible via the airport at Thessaloniki, the 2nd largest city in Greece.

Chalkidiki, also Halkidiki or Chalcidice, is one of the prefectures of Greece. It is located in the southeastern portion of Central Macedonia. The Cholomontas or the Cholomon mountains lie in the northcentral part. Thessaloniki International Airport, "Macedonia" (IATA: SKG, ICAO: LGTS) is located about 15 km SE of the city centre of Thessaloniki at Mikra, close to the busy suburb of Kalamaria.
