Jakarta is the largest city and capital of Indonesia, and is Located on the northwest coast of the island of Java. Compared to other destinations in Indonesia, Jakarta is not the most picturesque location, but the city has lots of things to see and do. Getting around is tricky due to a gridlocked transport system, however, there are many bajaj, small scooters converted into tricycles that carry passengers in a small cabin at the back. Places to see include: Jakarta Old Town (Kota), Textile Museum, Museum Sasmita Loka, and the Museum ABRI (Military Museum). Things to do include: shopping in the Jakarta malls, browsing the markets at Pasar Pagi Mangga Dua and the Wholesale Trade Cente at Mangga Dua. For food fans Jakarta has a vast range of delicacies including: Sop iga sapi - beef spare rib soup, Soto betawi - coconut milk broth, Kerak telor - omelette with shredded coconut, and Ketoprak - rice roll and crackers in peanut sauce.
