Kyrenia is situated in the Turkish occupied area of Cyprus. It is well know for it’s old harbour and castle. The harbour was originally a trading area for agricultural produce from the island but is now mainly used for pleasure craft and powered yachts. The castle has distinctive large round towers, which were constructed by the Venetians to protect the castle against a new weapon, the cannon. The nearest airport is Ercan but many visitors choose Larnaca as it is easier to cross the border from the Greek side.
