Le Louvre Museum (Musée du Louvre) and Palais Royal area is one of the most visited areas in Central Paris. In 2006 8.3 million visitors came to the Louvre making it the most visited art museum in the world. The museum contains some of the finest artworks in the world including - Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, Delacroix's Liberty Leading the People and Alexandros of Antioch's Venus de Milo. Just to the north of the Louvre is the Palais Royal. It is both a palace and a garden and is home to the Conseil d'État, the Constitutional Council, and the Ministry of Culture. At the rear of the garden are the older buildings of the Bibliothèque Nationale, the national library of deposit, with a collection of more than 6,000,000 books, documents, maps, and prints. West of the Louvre visitors can stroll through the Tuileries Garden (Jardin des Tuileries) which connects the museum complex with the Place de la Concorde and forms a part of the large central axis between the Louvre and La Défense business district.
