Limassol is the second largest city in Cyprus and is the largest port in the island. Historically, Limassol is situated between the ancient towns of Amathus and Curium (Kourion) and has many landmarks from these early periods including: The medieval castle of Limassol; Apollo Sanctuary at Kourion; Ancient Amathus ruins; Kourion Theatre; and Kolossi Castle. Limassol has two ports, commonly referred to as the "old port" and the "new port". The new port has the greatest commercial and passenger flow of traffic and it is the biggest port in the free part of Cyprus.
