Los Angeles Airport (IATA: LAX, ICAO: KLAX, FAA LID: LAX) is situated in the area of Westchester, 16 miles (26 km), south-west of Los Angeles Downtown. The airport is commonly known as LAX after the IATA airport code. Over 59 million passengers passed through the airport in 2009 which establishes LAX as the world’s 6th busiest airport. Several airlines have developed hub operations in LAX including - United Airlines, Alaska Airlines and American Airlines. To cater for the amount of traffic LAX has established no fewer than 9 Terminals, comprising 1 to 8 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) named after Tom Bradley, the first African-American and longest serving mayor of Los Angeles, and a champion of LAX. The airport has featured in a number of movies including Heat (1995) starring – Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, and Speed (1994) starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. Ground Transportation is provided by – Metro (Connection by Shuttle bus "G"), Bus, FlyAway Bus, Taxis and private shuttles, and Freeway (Interstate 405).
