Lyon Saint Exupéry International Airport (IATA: LYS, ICAO: LFLL), is situated 20 km; 13 miles, south east of Lyon city centre. The airport was originally named Lyon Satolas Airport, in 2000 both airport and train station were renamed in honour of famous Lyonnais aviation pioneer and writer Antoine de Saint Exupéry. Since 1997 the airport has served as a regional hub for the whole Rhône-Alpes region. In 2009 the airport handled over 7.7 million passengers, which made it the fourth busiest airport in France after - Charles de Gaulle, Orly and Nice. Ground transportation is provided by LGV Rhône-Alpes high-speed rail line, coach links and the Rhônexpress which will connect directly to the city tramline system. There are also good links from the airport to other destinations in the region such as Chambéry and Grenoble. The airport does not have many dedicated airport hotels although there is the popular Hotel Best Western Auberge De Jons nearby.

Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport (French: Aéroport Lyon Saint-Exupéry) (IATA: LYS, ICAO: LFLL), formerly known as Lyon Satolas Airport, is one of the two airports located in the agglomeration of Lyon, France. The airport is named after the French writer and pilot Antoine de Saint Exupéry, a native of Lyon.

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (29 June 1900—31 July 1944) was a French writer and aviator. He is best remembered for his novella The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince), and for his books about aviation adventures, including Night Flight and Wind, Sand and Stars. He disappeared on a reconnaissance flight over the Mediterranean in July 1944.
