Madrid Barajas International Airport (IATA: MAD, ICAO: LEMD), is situated 9 km (5.6 miles) from the city's financial district. The airport takes the name from the nearby district of Barajas. The airport is famous as one end of the Madrid-Barcelona air shuttle service, known as the "Puente Aéreo" (in Spanish), literally "Air Bridge". It is the world's busiest route although the number of flights is falling due to the opening of the Madrid–Barcelona high-speed rail line in 2008. Barajas was voted "Best Airport" in the 2008 Condé Nast Traveller Reader Awards. Ground transportation is mainly provided by The Madrid Metro Line which connects the airport with Madrid’s city centre station, Nuevos Ministerios right in the heart of Madrid’s financial district. Also, EMT (Madrid Municipal Transport Company) run regular public bus services between the airport and Madrid main bus station. The airport has a number of hotels nearby including: Hilton Madrid Airport; Best Western Villa De Barajas Hotel; Clement Barajas Hotel; and Tryp Alameda Aeropuerto Hotel.

A very contemporary design hotel with out-of-the-ordinary rooms, providing and interesting and enjoyable stay. Convenient, free shuttle service to Madrid Airport and surprising easily and readily accessible to Madrid city center by taxi, and probably by other public transportation.
