Nassau Lynden Pindling International Airport (IATA: NAS, ICAO: MYNN) is located 10 miles (16km) to the west of the capital city of Nassau. The airport was renamed in 2006 in honour of Sir Lynden Oscar Pindling (22 March 1930 – 25 August 2000), first Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of the Bahamas and “Father of the Nation”. Due to the large amount of flights to the United States, the airport contains U.S. Border preclearance facilities allowing all US flights to operate as domestic flights upon arrival at their destination. The airport is undergoing expansion works which includes a gate capable of handling the Airbus A380. Ground transport includes tax and private rental, there are no public transportation facilities at present.
