The Sultanate of Oman is a country in Southwest Asia, on the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It borders the United Arab Emirates in the northwest, Saudi Arabia in the west, and Yemen in the southwest. The coast is formed by the Arabian Sea in the south and east, and the Gulf of Oman in the northeast. The country also contains Madha, an enclave enclosed by the United Arab Emirates, and Musandam, an exclave also separated by Emirati territory.
Until the ascension of Sultan Qaboos bin Said in 1970, Oman was a very underdeveloped nation. In the 35 years since that time, education, public works and tourism have taken off throughout the country, although outside of Muscat there are many regions which still remain true to their Bedouin roots.
THE Oman Daily Observer is the largest circulated English-language daily in the Sultanate. Launched in November 1981, the Observer is the flagship newspaper (alongside its Arabic sister daily Oman) of Oman Establishment for Press, Publication & Advertising (OEPPA), the biggest media house in the country.

Seeb International Airport (IATA: MCT, ICAO: OOMS) is the main airport in Muscat, Oman. It is a hub Oman Air, the national carrier of Oman. The distance from Old Muscat is 30 km and it is 15km from the main residential localities. At the moment the airport is being expanded and modernized.

This geographic location has long given the sultanate a natural proclivity towards trading with the African continent, as well as serving as an entry point for visitors to Arabia.
