Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, also known as Roissy, (IATA: CDG, ICAO: LFPG) is located 25 km (16 miles) to the north-east of Paris. CDG is the 5th busiest airport in the world for passenger traffic and the 6th busiest for freight tonnage. The airport is named after Charles de Gaulle (1890-1970), founder of the French Fifth Republic. The airport has 3 terminals but there are ambitious plans to extend the terminal space. Terminal 2 is actually made up of multiple terminals. The check-in area of Terminal 2F is a favourite film location for French film directors and can frequently be seen in French movies that require an airport backdrop. The airport lies on grassy lands which are home to large numbers of rabbits and hares, which can be seen passengers. Terminal 2 includes a TGV station on the LGV Interconnexion Est high-speed line.
