Podgorica International Airport (IATA: TGD, ICAO: LYPG) is located 11 km (7 miles) south of Podgorica, Montenegro. The IATA code of the airport is still TGD because Podgorica was named Titograd (after Josip Broz Tito, the former Marshal of Yugoslavia,) from 1946 to 1992. There are daily scheduled flights to various European cities. During the busy summer season, there are many charter flights and air connections to various major world cities. Public transportation, to and from the airport, is supplied by buses and taxis. The journey time by vehicle from Podgorica to the airport takes about 15 20 minutes although this is slower during peak tourist times. The airport is close to Podgorica city centre and most visitors will head to the hotels in Podgorica or pick up transfers to the coastal and mountain resort areas.
