San Francisco International Airport (IATA: SFO, ICAO: KSFO, FAA LID: SFO) is situated 13 miles (21 km) south of downtown San Francisco, California. From 2009 the airport is the 10th busiest airport in the US and is the 2nd busiest in California next to Los Angeles. SFO prides itself on providing a wide range of passenger facilities including ood and drink establishments, shopping, baggage storage, public showers, a medical clinic, and assistance for lost or stranded travelers and military personnel. The airport is also home to the Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum, and the San Francisco Airport Commission Aviation Library. The airport is composed of four terminals (1, 2, 3, and International) – the International Terminal opened in December 2000 and is the largest international terminal in North America. It is also the largest building in the world built on base isolators to protect against earthquakes. The airport has also featured in a number of movies – the end of the Steve McQueen film Bullitt was shot at the airport, and Dirty Harry foils a hijacking at the airport in the 1973 film Magnum Force. Ground transportation is facilitated via, The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) BART (Bay Area Rapid Transport) station, located in Parking Garage G of the International Terminal – it is the only direct rail link between the airport, the city of San Francisco, and the general Bay Area.
