Santiago is the capital and largest city in Chile. The city is located at 520m (1700 ft) in the Central Valley of Chile flanked by the Andes Mountains and the Chilean Coastal Range. Santiago has a mild Mediterranean climate: relatively hot dry summers (November to March) with temperatures reaching up to 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit) on the hottest days; winters (June to August) are more humid. Over the last 20 years Santiago along with Chile has enjoyed both growth and stability in the economy. Many international companies have chosen to head quarter their South American operations in Santiago ands the city is developing some major construction projects including – the Costanera Center (When completed in 2010 it will be the tallest building in South America) and the Titanium La Portada.
