Singapore Changi Airport (IATA: SIN, ICAO: WSSS) known simply as Changi Airport is a major aviation hub in Asia, particularly in the Southeast Asian region, and is the main airport in Singapore. Changi was also the launch customer for the Airbus A380 and 11 specially-built gates have been installed to handle this giant aircraft. Changi is about 17.2 kilometres (10.7 miles) north-east from the commercial centre of the city. There are currently 5 terminals - Terminals 1, 2 and 3, are connected by the Changi Airport Skytrain. For external transfers the airport is connected to the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) network, with Changi Airport Station located underground between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 but also directly accessible from both terminals. Passengers have also the option of road transfer by SBS and SMRT transit buses. The Airbus A380 is a double-deck, wide-body, four-engine airliner manufactured by the European corporation Airbus, a subsidiary of EADS. The largest passenger airliner in the world, the A380 made its maiden flight on 27 April 2005 from Toulouse, France, and made its first commercial flight on 25 October 2007 from Singapore to Sydney with Singapore Airlines.
