Skiathos. Pop. 3,138. Main settlements Skiathos Town and Koukounaries. A small Greek island in the Aegean Sea near the eastern coast of the Greek mainland, and part of the Sporades group of islands. The island is covered with pine forests with over 60 beaches including a nudist beach called Banana . Visitors can travel to Skiathos by plane from Athens or by ferry boat and hydrofoil from Agios Konstantinos, Volos, Alonissos and Skopelos. Skiathos Town often referred to as “Chora” is a picturesque town full of beautiful traditional mansions, neoclassical buildings, marble squares and stone-paved narrow streets.
