Slovenia is a small, forested country located between Italy and Croatia on the Adriatic Coastline. The captial and largest city is Ljubljana (Pop. 265,881). Despite being a small country it has a remarkable variety of topography from beaches on the Adriatic sea to the Julian Alps and Mount Trigalev (2,864 metres 9,396 feet) the highest point in Slovenia. The main cities and towns are: Ljubljana (Capital); Maribor (2nd Largest City); Piran (Port); Portorož (Tourist City on Coast); Koper (Port); Izola (Port); Celje (Old City); Kranj (Close to Ljubljana Airport); Nova Gorica (Near Italian Border); Novo Mesto (Near Gorjanci mountains); Ptuj (Old City with Castle); Slovenj Gradec (birthplace of composer Hugo Wolf); and Velenje (Industrial Town).
