Split is an important transport center for Dalmatia and the wider region. In addition to the Zagreb-Split freeway (A1), all the road traffic along the Adriatic coast on the route Zadar–Dubrovnik flows through the city. The most interesting part of Split is the historic centre built within the walls of the former Roman palace. Sports fans will be interested in The city's football (soccer) club, HNK Hajduk, arguably the most popular club in Croatia with a colourful fan group called the Torcida.
