Saint Petersburg Pulkovo International Airport (IATA: LED, ICAO: ULLI) is 20 km (12 miles) approximately, south of the city centre. The airport has 2 separate terminals – T1 which mainly serves flights within Russia and the CIS countries, and T2 which caters for most of the long-haul international flights. From 2007, Pulkovo is now the 4th busiest in Russia after Moscow's Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo airports. Ground transport is provided by "Marshrutka" minibuses, and regular bus services. Private car and taxi are accessible via the Pulkovskoe Shosse motorway from St Petersburg city centre. The airport does not have many dedicated airport hotels, as can be found around many West European airports. However, the Park Inn Pulkovskaya Hotel, Sokos Hotel Olympia Garden, and Ambassador Hotel are worth looking at.
Aimed at business travelers, the Pulkovskaya Hotel is a large low-rise property with the added bonus of brewing its own beer. The location of the property is ideal for corporate travelers, just 10 minutes away from the airport and close to Victory Monument, while the city center can be reached in about 15 minutes.
The Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory is the principal astronomical observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences, located 19 km south of Saint Petersburg on Pulkovo Heights (75 m above sea level). It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Centre of Saint Petersburg and Related Groups of Monuments.
Pulkovo Airport (IATA: LED, ICAO: ULLI) is the international airport serving St. Petersburg, Russia, located 16 km south of the city. Originally it was named Shosseynaya Airport. Construction began in January 1931, and was completed on June 24, 1932, with the first aircraft arriving at 17:31 that day, after a two-and-a-half hour flight from Moscow carrying passengers and mail.
