From Stuttgart you can take many good day trips. Just an hour to an hour and a half south is the Swiss border and Zurich. On the way you can see the largest falls in Europe. An hour south is Triberg, a beautiful old village in the heart of the black forest which specializes in grandfather and cuckoo clocks. Stuttgart is also fond of its mineral springs. The best one might be the Leuze Mineralbad which also offers a sauna, but there are many others like Neckarbad.
