Tallinn (also known as Reval and Kolyvan, among other names; first mentioned on 1154 when Arab geographer Al-Idrisi entered it in his map of the world, is the capital and largest city of Estonia. Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, is truly one of the gems of Northern Europe. The city lies on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland, only 70 km (43 mi) south of Helsinki. At the historical heart of the city is the hill of Toompea, covered in cobbled streets and filled with medieval houses and alleyways. The lower town spreads out from the foot of the hill, still protected by the remnants of a city wall.
Tallinn Airport or Ülemiste Airport (IATA: TLL, ICAO: EETN; Estonian: Tallinna lennujaam) is the largest airport in Estonia and home base of the national airline Estonian Air. Tallinn Airport is open to both domestic and international flights. It is located approximately 4 kilometers from the city center of Tallinn on the eastern shore of Lake Ülemiste.
