Take time to learn some useful phrases in the language of the country you are visiting. Being able to say only please and thankyou can go a long way.

Thailand. Pop. 64,631,595. Area. 513,115 (km²). Capital - Bangkok. Currency – Thai Baht. Language – Thai. Main Religion - Theraveda Buddhism. Time Zone – GMT + 7 hours. Main Airport – Bangkok International BKK. Average Temperature – 28° to 35°. Voltage guide 220 AC, 50 Hz. Dialing code 66. The Kingdom of Thailand, formerly Siam, lies in Southeast Asia, with Laos and Cambodia to its east, the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia to its south, and the Andaman Sea and Myanmar to its west. It is the world's 49th-largest country, comparable in size to Spain, and slightly larger than California (USA). Thailand is the most popular tourist destination in South-East Asia, for a number of very important reasons. The country is both exotic and safe, and is still by and large hassle-free. Accommodation remains cheap and excellent value equipped with every modern amenity. There are regular flights to and from Bangkok and Phuket from most international airports. There is something for every interest and every price bracket, from beachfront backpacker bungalows to some of the best luxury and 5 star hotels in the world. Travelers can experience a wide range of locations, and activities including – the mountains of Mae Hong Son, carved limestone islands of the Andaman Sea, dance clubs of Bangkok, and traditional villages along the Mekong River. However, despite the high numbers of tourists, Thailand retains its unique culture and history with a carefree people famed for their smiles and hospitality. Thailand is largely tropical, so it's hot and humid all year around with some relief provided only in the mountains in the far north of Thailand. There are effectively 3 seasons: - COOL - Nov to Feb, it doesn't rain much and temperatures are at the lowest. HOT: Mar to June, Thailand swelters in temperatures as high as 40°C. RAINY: July to Oct, tropical monsoons begin to hit most of the country, with some local variations. By far the best time to visit is from November to Feb/Mar.
