Pack lightweight clothing for hot climates. Leave heavy jeans behind, they also take too long to dry.

Uyuni Population - 11,000. Currency – Boliviano (BOB) Language - Spanish. Time Zone - GMT - 4 hours. Best Time to go – Dry season - Jul to Nov. Uyuni, a small town in the Potosoi department of Bolivia, would be easily bypassed by the world if it were not for the fact it has one of the biggest tourist attractions in South America on its doorstep. The Uyuni Salt Flat (Salar de Uyuni) is the largest salt bed in the world. At an altitude of 12,000 ft the Salar covers an area of around 12,000 sq km and holds billions of tons of salt. The thousands of tourists makes Uyuni a busy place and Salar tours of varying lengths are widely available in the town. There are train links to La Paz (via Oruro) and Villiazon (the Argentine border). Accomodation is in good supply even if hot water is not and for those seeking evening entertainment, the “Extreme Fun Bar” is, as the name suggests, an enjoyable venue with welcoming hosts.
